Degradation of pollutants in water by Fenton-like oxidation over LaFe-catalysts: Optimization by experimental design

The effect of different parameters such as temperature, type catalyst and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) concentration on the degradation pollutants in water by Fenton-like oxidation was studied using Box-Behnken design (BBD), an effective statistical model to experiments. Concerning heterogeneous catalysts, three bimetallic catalysts with lanthanum (La) iron (Fe) ion-exchanged into zeolites (NaY ZSM5) a natural clay from Morocco were prepared used for organic water. Tartrazine (Tar, food coloring compound known E102) caffeine (Caf, stimulant drug present popular beverages coffee tea) selected due their presence several commercial products daily consumption. BBD indicated that optimum catalytic conditions reaction initial pollutant 30 ppm at pH 3.0 T = 40 °C 90 mM H2O2. maximum conversion values achieved best catalyst, LaFeZSM5, 96.6% Tar after 180 min 51.0% Caf 300 reaction. To increase Caf, modified zeolite electrode electro without H2O2, room temperature.
